Beitar Jerusalem Fans Deny Provoking Violence in Larnaca Clash with AEK Supporters

Following reports of clashes between Beitar Jerusalem fans and AEK Larnaca supporters in Larnaca, Cyprus, ahead of their Conference League qualifier match, Beitar fans have presented a different account of the events. They deny initiating any violence or causing property damage, stating that the confrontation was provoked by local AEK fans. According to Beitar supporters, dozens of AEK fans first gathered near the hotel where Beitar fans were staying, shouting anti-Israel and anti-Beitar slogans such as "Fuck Beitar," "Fuck Israel," and "Free Palestine." They claim all videos circulating were filmed from the hotel premises.

After leaving the hotel area, AEK fans reportedly sent a location to Beitar's fan organization, inviting them to a meeting between fan groups. When Beitar fans moved toward the designated spot, they were allegedly ambushed by AEK supporters who fired fireworks and threw objects at them. This version aligns with Beitar Jerusalem's official statement, which, following discussions with Larnaca police and UEFA, confirmed that tear gas was used only against AEK fans during the incident.

Beitar Jerusalem firmly rejected accusations that their fans caused damage or instigated the clashes. The planned fan march by Beitar supporters was ultimately canceled due to the unfolding events. The incident occurred hours before the second-round Conference League qualifier match between the two teams in Larnaca, Cyprus.
