Air India Resumes Direct Flights to Israel Amid Regional Tensions

Air India is set to re-establish direct flights between Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport and New Delhi starting December 1st. The resumption follows multiple postponements attributed to the ongoing war and persistent regional instability. Initially, the Indian carrier plans to operate three flights per week in December, with schedules indicating departures on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. This frequency is expected to increase to five flights weekly from January onwards.

The flight duration is approximately 5 hours and 45 minutes. Air India has specifically designed a modified flight path to enhance safety, avoiding airspace over countries considered hostile to Israel. This adjusted route aims to shorten travel time while circumventing potentially problematic air corridors.

The reintroduction of this route is significant for Israeli travelers, effectively reopening a direct air link to India and providing convenient access to Air India's extensive network of connecting flights to various Asian destinations and Australia.

The return of Air India's service has been delayed several times. In July, the airline extended its suspension until the end of September, citing security concerns due to regional tensions. Previously, the resumption dates were also repeatedly pushed back. Tickets for flights commencing December 1st are now available for booking.

In the initial phase, flights will be operated using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. After months of uncertainty, Air India is preparing to reconnect Tel Aviv and Delhi with a direct service, featuring a route specifically adapted to the complex regional security situation.
