Air India to Resume Flights to Israel Amid Wider Return of Airlines
Air India is set to resume regular flights to Israel starting December 1st, operating five weekly services. This marks the airline's latest attempt to re-establish its route, which has been repeatedly disrupted since the start of the war. Previous attempts saw the airline suspend operations shortly after resuming, including a March 2025 return that ended in May due to a Houthi missile strike on Ben Gurion Airport, and a February 2026 resumption coinciding with Operation "Iron Sword."
The flight, expected to take approximately five and a half hours, will be the only direct route connecting Israel and India. Additionally, the service will provide connectivity to numerous destinations in the East via India.
Air India's return is part of a broader trend of foreign airlines reintroducing services to Israel, signaling a move towards pre-war normalcy. This month, United Airlines and Delta have already resumed flights, and Air Canada is scheduled to return on November 30th. Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) had announced an October 26th return but postponed, citing unsuitable conditions.
The resumption was initially planned for October but was postponed last month by the airline. Ben Gurion Airport has also reopened its parking facilities, allowing vehicular access.
