Air India Resumes Direct Flights Between Tel Aviv and Delhi

Indian airline Air India is set to relaunch its direct flight route between Tel Aviv and Delhi on Thursday, October 1, following a suspension of over seven months. The airline will operate five weekly flights, from Sunday to Thursday, using Boeing 777 aircraft. This makes Air India the sole carrier currently offering direct flights between Israel and India, restoring a crucial travel option for Israelis seeking to visit India without layovers. From Delhi, passengers can connect to various destinations across Southeast Asia and the Pacific region.

The previous suspension of Air India's service to Israel began on February 28, triggered by escalating regional tensions and the closure of Israeli airspace. A flight en route from Delhi to Israel on that date was diverted to Mumbai due to the developing situation. Despite the gradual resumption of flights to other Middle Eastern destinations by Air India, the Tel Aviv route remained suspended and was postponed multiple times. In late May, the company announced that flights to Ben Gurion Airport would not resume before the end of July, citing ongoing security concerns in the region.

This latest interruption adds to a pattern of service suspensions and restarts for Air India's operations in Israel since October 7, 2023. Although the direct route between Tel Aviv and Delhi was initially renewed in early 2026, operations were halted again within two months.
