Israeli Ambassador to US's Son Critically Injured in West Bank Attack

Neriah Leiter, son of Israel's Ambassador to the United States, Yehiel Leiter, was critically injured in a car-ramming attack on Route 446 on Wednesday. Neriah is currently sedated and on a ventilator at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, having sustained severe head injuries. His father, Ambassador Leiter, described the situation as dire, stating, "We need a miracle." This incident follows a period of profound grief for the Leiter family, as their son Moshe was killed in combat in Gaza during the recent war.

Neriah's mother, Hani Leiter, shared on Galei Tzahal radio that her son has undergone two surgeries and his condition remains uncertain. She recounted receiving the news while attending a gymnastics class, with the gravity of the situation slowly dawning on her. The attack occurred as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was preparing for his UN address.

Tal Naim, spokesperson for the Israeli Embassy in Washington, described the difficult moment the news reached the ambassador, who had only recently spoken to Newsmax about perceived international criticism of Israel's conduct in Gaza.
