Ambassador's Son Critically Injured in West Bank Attack; Family in Shock

Neriah Leiter, son of Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Yehiel Leiter, remains in very serious condition following a complex brain surgery after being critically wounded in an attack at a checkpoint on Route 443. The ambassador returned to Israel early Thursday morning and immediately went to Shaare Zedek Medical Center, where his son is hospitalized.

Doctors described Neriah's condition as "very serious" with "danger to his life," noting that extensive teams, including surgical and intensive care staff, are providing life-saving treatment. Social workers are providing sensitive support to the family.

Neriah's mother, Chani Leiter, spoke to the media, expressing the family's shock. "We are still in shock," she said. "His wife keeps saying, 'I can't believe this is happening to us.'" She recalled her son's strength and support for the family, especially after another family member, Moshe, passed away. "He was amazing. We are clinging to life."

She also shared that Neriah's 11-year-old son was informed of his father's condition by his wife, with friends providing support overnight. Meanwhile, the family received some solace as a new granddaughter was born to one of their daughters overnight. The family has requested continued prayers for Neriah Dov ben Chana's recovery.
