IDF Reservist, Son of Israeli Ambassador to US, Critically Wounded in Terror Attack
A severe terror attack near Route 443 on Wednesday left Neriah Laiter, a reserve soldier and the son of Israel's Ambassador to the United States, critically injured. Laiter sustained a head injury and was evacuated unconscious, sedated, and on a ventilator to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. The family has requested prayers for his full recovery, identifying him as Neriah Dov ben Hannah.
The attacker, identified as Mahmoud Muhammad Mahmoud Suleiman, 29, from Beit Ur al-Tahta, reportedly drove his vehicle into a police car before striking Laiter. Security forces on the scene neutralized the assailant.
This incident comes as Laiter's brother, Moshe Yedidya Laiter, was killed in combat in northern Gaza in November. He died from a powerful explosive device near a tunnel entrance in Beit Hanoun along with other soldiers.
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant expressed his prayers for Neriah Laiter's recovery and commended the forces who eliminated the attacker, vowing that terrorism would not be allowed to prevail. Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan also offered prayers and support to the family, emphasizing the need for a strong response to terrorism and reinforcing security forces.
