Two-Week-Old Infant Found Unconscious, Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition
A two-week-old baby boy lost consciousness Thursday morning at his home in Acre and was evacuated to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya while undergoing resuscitation efforts, with his condition described as critical.
Maimon Balisha, a paramedic with United Hatzalah, reported arriving at the scene to find the infant without a pulse or breathing. He initiated CPR until an intensive care ambulance arrived to transport the baby to the hospital, continuing resuscitation en route.
A volunteer MDA doctor, Dr. Omri Gurga, and MDA paramedic Salem Harika described the incident as "very difficult." They stated that upon reaching the infant, who was unconscious, pulseless, and not breathing, they immediately began advanced resuscitation, including chest compressions, ventilation, and medication. The baby was then urgently transported to the hospital's trauma unit, with resuscitation efforts continuing.
