Two-Week-Old Infant Dies in Acre; Suffocation Under Investigation
A two-week-old infant was found unconscious in his home in Acre on Thursday morning and later pronounced dead at Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya. Investigators are examining the possibility that the baby suffocated while sleeping in his parents' bed.
Magen David Adom (MDA) received a report at 8:37 AM regarding the infant found unresponsive. Paramedics provided medical treatment and evacuated the baby to the hospital in critical condition, performing resuscitation efforts en route.
"This is a very difficult incident," said volunteer doctor Omri Gurga and paramedic Salem Harika. "We were led to the infant who lay unconscious, without a pulse or breathing. We quickly began resuscitation efforts, including chest compressions, artificial respiration, and administering medication, and urgently evacuated him to the hospital's trauma room while continuing advanced resuscitation."
Despite the efforts, the infant's death was confirmed at the hospital. The circumstances surrounding the death are under investigation.
