Weapons Cache and Tunnel Found Near Qalqilya, Four Arrested

Police uncovered a 25-meter-deep tunnel under construction in the West Bank city of Qalqilya late last night, along with a cache of weapons. The tunnel was discovered during an intelligence and operational activity by the special investigations unit in the Samaria region and border police fighters. During the search of a site in Qalqilya, forces found an M16 rifle, a sniper rifle, ammunition, magazines, phones, fertilizer used for making explosives, and a DVR recording device.

Four suspects were arrested at the scene and taken for police investigation. Police stated they will continue proactive work to uncover digging infrastructure and weapons in the Samaria region and bring those involved to justice.

Following the discovery, Oschrat Gani-Gonen, head of the South Sharon Regional Council and ninth on the Yishai list for the Knesset, stated that the incident "must not pass without notice." She added that residents are witnessing tunnels, drones, weapons, and infrastructure just meters from their homes, emphasizing that "after October 7th, no one can close their eyes and say the area is under control."

Rafi Sa'ar, mayor of the nearby city of Kfar Saba, commented that the incident "indicates that the security threat surrounding the residents of the front line is tangible and immediate," adding that this security reality requires "strict and decisive action."
