Police Discover Weapons Cache in Palestinian Tunnel Near Qalqilya
Israeli police and border police forces uncovered a tunnel under construction in Qalqilya, a Palestinian city in the West Bank, during an operation on Tuesday. The tunnel, at least 25 meters deep, was found to contain a significant cache of weapons and materials. Among the items discovered were an M16 rifle, a sniper rifle, ammunition, magazines, mobile phones, fertilizer (a component used in explosives), and a DVR device.
During the operation, a second, earlier-stage tunnel was also found. Four suspects were apprehended at the scene. The police stated that the discovered tunnel was in the process of being excavated.
