Tunnel with Weapons Found Under Palestinian City of Qalqilya
Israeli police announced Wednesday the discovery of a tunnel, at least 25 meters deep, under the Palestinian city of Qalqilya in the West Bank. During a targeted search operation, officers from the Judea and Samaria District Police and the Border Police located the tunnel and found a second tunnel in the process of being dug. The search yielded weapons including an M16 rifle and a sniper rifle, ammunition, magazines, telephones, fertilizer used for explosives, and a DVR device. Four suspects were arrested at the scene and are currently being interrogated by police. "The Israel Police will continue to proactively work to expose digging infrastructure and weapons in the Samaria region, to locate those involved and bring them to justice," a police statement read. The operation was based on precise intelligence and offensive activity in the area.
