Tunnel Dug Near Jerusalem Border Discovered and Sealed
Israeli security forces have discovered and sealed a tunnel dug by Palestinians near the separation barrier and the settlements of Givat Ze'ev and Givon, close to Jerusalem. The tunnel, located in the Palestinian village of al-Jib, was found on August 28 and was already in an advanced stage of excavation. Its entrance was concealed within an ancient water cistern to hide the digging activity.
Following the discovery, Border Police forces operating in the Jerusalem envelope launched a targeted operational and intelligence effort. During this operation, a suspect was arrested in possession of digging tools. An archaeological survey of the tunnel and the surrounding area was conducted as part of the operation.
