Tunnel Found Near Givat Ze'ev, Entrance Hidden in Ancient Well
Israeli security forces discovered and sealed a tunnel near the village of al-Jib, close to the separation barrier and the settlements of Givat Ze'ev and Givon. The entrance to the tunnel was concealed within an ancient water well, which had been used to hide the excavation activity. The tunnel was located on August 28th, prompting a focused operational and intelligence effort in the area.
During the operation, a suspect was arrested in possession of excavation tools. An examination of the site revealed that the tunnel was in an advanced stage of digging. An archaeological survey of the tunnel and its surroundings confirmed that the entrance was indeed hidden inside the ancient well.
Security forces stated that operations to locate and thwart infrastructure near the separation barrier will continue to ensure the safety of residents in the area. The forces completed the sealing of the tunnel.
