IDF Forces Discover and Seal Tunnel Near Jerusalem Settlements
Israeli security forces discovered a tunnel dug in the Palestinian village of Al-Jib, near the separation barrier and close to the settlements of Giva'on and Givat Ze'ev, approximately two weeks ago. Border Police and IDF soldiers completed sealing the tunnel on Sunday evening. Following the tunnel's discovery, the Border Police's Jerusalem Envelope unit conducted targeted operational and intelligence activities, leading to the arrest of a suspect found with digging tools. Investigations revealed the tunnel was in an advanced stage of excavation. An archaeological survey of the tunnel and its surroundings indicated that the entrance was concealed within an ancient water cistern, which was used to hide the digging operation. Border Police fighters from the Northern Battalion, in cooperation with IDF forces, finalized the sealing of the tunnel.
