Tunnel Found Near Separation Barrier, Suspect Arrested
Israeli security forces discovered a tunnel in the advanced stages of excavation near the separation barrier in the West Bank village of Al-Jib, approximately two weeks ago. The tunnel was located close to the settlements of Givon and Givat Ze'ev. The entrance to the tunnel was concealed within an ancient water cistern, which had been used to hide the digging activity. The discovery was made following an archaeological survey of the tunnel and the surrounding area.
Following intelligence, Border Police (Magav) forces apprehended a suspect in possession of digging tools. Yesterday, Magav forces, in cooperation with IDF soldiers, sealed the tunnel. The police stated they will continue to operate decisively to locate and thwart infrastructure near the separation barrier and to maintain the security of the region's residents.
