Israel Discovers Arms Cache in West Bank Tunnel; US Urges Calm in Region

Israeli police in Qalqilya, West Bank, uncovered a deep tunnel under construction containing weapons and ammunition. The tunnel, approximately 25 meters underground, led to the arrest of four suspects present at the scene. Seized items included an M16 assault rifle, a sniper rifle, and materials for making explosives. Authorities also found evidence of a second tunnel being dug nearby.

In parallel, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that former President Donald Trump wishes to avoid escalating tensions in the West Bank, citing existing conflicts in Gaza, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Iran. Rubio emphasized that another crisis in the region is the "last thing" the world and Israel need at this time.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military reported completing a three-month operation in Syria, during which the 228th brigade destroyed dozens of weapons and terrorist infrastructure, apprehending suspects. The 228th brigade will be replaced by the 2nd brigade, with the 210th division continuing operations to protect Israel.

Separately, a car-ramming attack occurred on Route 443 in the Binyamin brigade area, resulting in a man being seriously injured and the attacker neutralized. The victim, a police officer and an IDF soldier were in the police vehicle targeted. The injured man is in critical condition at Shaare Zedek Medical Center.

In Gaza, the IDF discovered a 600-meter-long tunnel extending from the Israeli side of the "yellow line" into Hamas-controlled territory. The Israeli Knesset's Finance Committee approved an additional NIS 15 billion for the Defense Ministry and IDF. The Supreme Court has postponed a decision on an inquiry commission into the October 7th attacks until January 2027, a move opposed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
