Iran Claims to Deliver War Cessation Terms to US via Mediator

Iran announced Wednesday that its representatives held talks with the United States at the UN General Assembly, conveyed through a Qatari mediator, presenting its conditions for ending the war. According to Iran's official IRNA news agency, these demands include a cessation of hostilities on all fronts, an end to "US acts of aggression," the lifting of naval blockades, and the release of frozen Iranian assets. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baqaei stated these were the terms conveyed.

This development follows President Donald Trump's revelation Tuesday that a senior American official met with the Iranian delegation for approximately three hours, describing it as a "good meeting" with another conversation scheduled. Trump had previously stated in his UN address that Iran, once the "bully of the Middle East," was no longer so, and that he faced a "big decision" regarding the country: "It's either deal or destruction." He expressed belief an agreement would be reached after the midterm elections.

Earlier, a senior Iranian official claimed Tehran had offered to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within a week if the US eased military pressure, with this initiative reportedly approved by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and National Security Council head Mohsen Rezai. The same official clarified that a meeting between Trump and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani was not on the agenda at the UN, but noted "progress toward a possible agreement."

Iranian President Rouhani, set to speak at the UN, stated before departing for New York that "crimes committed against the Iranian people will be presented at the UN." He asserted that the enemy's military provocations had failed, leading them to target air and land routes, and that preventing Iranian media access demonstrated their fear of exposing their "crimes."

In parallel, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a security assessment Tuesday, amid Israeli officials' concerns that the Iranian front could soon ignite. A senior officer indicated the military is preparing for several scenarios: a significant Israeli response to missile attacks, a US-backed war dubbed "Lion's Roar 2.0," or an independent Israeli operation in Iran under the "With All Our Might" scenario.
