Netherlands Confirms Eurovision 2027 Participation After Previous Boycott
The Netherlands will participate in the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, public broadcaster NPO announced on Wednesday. This decision comes after the Netherlands boycotted the most recent competition due to Israel's participation.
Last week, Ireland's public broadcaster, RTE, also announced its withdrawal from Eurovision 2027, which is scheduled to be held in Burgas, Bulgaria. RTE stated that its position has not changed and that "RTE believes that Ireland's participation cannot be justified, given the shocking and ongoing loss of life in Gaza and the humanitarian crisis there, which continues to endanger the lives of so many civilians."
Ireland was one of five countries that boycotted this year's Eurovision, alongside Spain, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Iceland. Ireland has a notable history with the contest, having first participated in 1965 and winning a record seven times.
