Negev Man Charged with Inciting Terrorism and Supporting Hamas Post-October 7

The Southern District Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against 19-year-old Daif Alla Abu-Ragila from the Segev Shalom local council in the Negev. He faces charges of incitement to terror and expressing solidarity with Hamas. Abu-Ragila was arrested in mid-August by police and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) on suspicion of publishing extremist content related to Hamas on social media.

The indictment details 45 posts containing incitement, praise for violence and terrorism, and expressions of solidarity with the designated terrorist organization. During interrogation, Abu-Ragila stated, "Before October 7, I didn't like Hamas. But after the attack, I saw videos shared by users on TikTok, and they awakened in me a love for Hamas." Investigators found that the defendant published photos and videos of terrorists, documentation of the October 7 massacre, praised Hamas leaders, and directly called for violence and terror attacks.

Specifically, he shared laudatory posts about Yahya Sinwar, Ismail Haniyeh, Ahmed Yassin, and Ibrahim al-Nabulsi, a video praising Muin Muammar (identified as responsible for killing 20 Israelis), and materials that referred to Islamic Jihad terrorist activity as fulfilling a religious duty and a step toward cleansing Al-Aqsa Mosque. His phone revealed a constant preoccupation with terrorism, including collecting terror-related photos and discussing the topic on WhatsApp.

The prosecution emphasized that Abu-Ragila's communications and files are deeply concerning due to his open support for Hamas and admiration for the October 7 massacre. The prosecutor's office has requested that he be held in custody until his trial concludes, citing his danger to the public, especially in the current tense security climate, and the potential risk to public safety if he were released before the proceedings end.
