Southern Israel Resident Indicted for Inciting Terrorism and Praising Hamas

A 19-year-old resident of Shagav Shalom in southern Israel, Dif Allah Abu Regila, has been indicted on charges of inciting terrorism and expressing identification with a terror organization. The indictment, filed by the Southern District Attorney's Office, follows a joint investigation by the Southern District Police and the Shin Bet security agency.

According to the indictment, Abu Regila maintained a public TikTok account where he reposted content from accounts associated with Hamas and memorial pages for terrorists. These reposts, which occurred daily in August leading up to his arrest, included footage from the October 7th attacks and praise for figures like Yahya Sinwar, Ismail Haniyeh, Ahmed Yassin, and Ibrahim al-Nabulsi.

One specific repost highlighted by prosecutors allegedly glorified Muein Muammar, accused of killing 20 Israelis on October 7th. Another post, described as a direct call to terrorism, featured a video framing jihad and fighting as a religious duty to purify the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Abu Regila was arrested approximately one month ago by special police forces and detectives. He was subsequently interrogated by the Shin Bet and a counter-terrorism unit.

The prosecution is seeking to detain Abu Regila until the legal proceedings conclude, arguing that the volume and nature of his posts, including direct calls to violence, demonstrate his dangerousness. They also contend that the current security situation exacerbates the risk posed by such offenses and that his release could endanger public safety.
