Carmiel Water Contamination Alert Continues for Third Day

Residents of Carmiel are still prohibited from drinking tap water and must boil it before use, as a water contamination issue in the northern Israeli city enters its third consecutive day. The Carmiel Municipality issued a further update on Thursday, emphasizing that the ban remains in effect. The municipality stated that public health is its top priority and that it is working with all professional bodies to carefully examine the water quality results.

Mayor Moshe Kuninski reported holding several situation assessments throughout the day with the Water Authority in the Ministry of Energy, the Ein Kerem water corporation, Mekorot (the national water company), and the Ministry of Health. He explained that the Water Authority manages the water economy and directs the water corporations, with Ein Kerem implementing its directives. Water testing is ongoing, with a mandatory 24-hour waiting period between samples, according to professional protocols. Another assessment was scheduled for Thursday evening.

Until new instructions are issued, residents are urged to adhere to the Ministry of Health and Water Authority guidelines. This includes boiling tap water before drinking, cooking, preparing food, making medicine, brushing teeth, and preparing beverages. The mayor assured the public that the situation is being handled systematically and in full cooperation with professional entities, and he would continue to provide updates.
