Four Indicted for Attempting to Smear 20 Kilograms of Hashish into Jordan

Police announced today the indictment of four individuals, including a minor, suspected of attempting to smuggle a significant quantity of hashish into Jordan across the eastern border. The incident occurred on August 22, 2026, when forces, in cooperation with the Israeli military, observed suspects near the border fence. According to police, the suspects threw 36 packages of hashish into Jordanian territory before forces apprehended them shortly after they fled the scene. Jordanian forces subsequently seized the drugs. The four defendants include two brothers from northern Israel, one of whom is a minor, and two individuals from southern Israel. They were transferred to the Northern District's central unit for investigation. The indictment was filed against them at the Nazareth-Nof HaGalil Central Court. Police stated this case is part of ongoing efforts to thwart smuggling attempts across the eastern border, which have resulted in the seizure of approximately 700 kilograms of drugs in recent months. The current indictment specifically concerns the attempted smuggling of about 20 kilograms of hashish.
