Three Israelis Charged with Smuggling 17kg of Hashish into Jordan

An indictment has been filed against three Israeli residents and a minor for allegedly smuggling 17 kilograms of hashish across the Jordanian border. The suspects, identified as Bassam Abu Al-Huba from Ma'an, Musa Al-Salalmi from Abu Qrinat, and Ahad Kasem from Nazareth, along with the minor, are accused of conspiring to export the drugs by throwing them over the border fence.

According to the indictment, on August 22, Abu Al-Huba and Al-Salalmi traveled from southern Israel to Nazareth, where they met Kasem and the minor. The hashish, concealed under a spare tire in another vehicle, was transferred using a shopping cart to a storage location in a building. Subsequently, Kasem and the minor allegedly transported the drugs to an area near Kibbutz Maoz Haim, close to the Jordanian border. During the journey, Kasem reportedly promised the minor 10,000 shekels for his involvement in the smuggling operation.

Near the border, the drugs were divided into three bags. While Al-Salalmi kept watch, Abu Al-Huba and Kasem drove towards the fence. Around 2:15 AM, they allegedly threw the bags over the border, waiting until they landed in Jordanian territory. On their way back, the two attempted to evade security forces but were apprehended along with Al-Salalmi and the minor. Simultaneously, Jordanian authorities seized 36 packages of hashish, totaling approximately 17 kilograms, on their side of the border.

The four individuals are charged with exporting dangerous drugs and violating state sovereignty at the border. The prosecution has requested their detention until the conclusion of legal proceedings. If convicted, the prosecution seeks to declare the adult defendants as drug traffickers and confiscate $15,000 and 3,370 shekels found in their possession.
