Israeli Forces Foil Major Drug Smuggling Attempt to Jordan

Israeli security forces thwarted an attempt to smuggle approximately 60 kilograms of drugs into Jordan on Monday. Military surveillance detected two individuals attempting to cross the border near the settlement of Ma'oz Chaim, prompting a swift response from the "Lions of the Jordan" battalion (41), Border Police units, and the central unit "Yamar" of the Northern District.

During the operation, forces discovered several bags containing the illicit substances, which security officials estimate to be worth millions of shekels. As a vehicle attempted to flee the scene, security forces pursued and apprehended two suspects, aged 17 and 20, near the Megiddo Junction. The suspects are reportedly residents of Bedouin communities in southern Israel.

Both suspects and the seized drugs were handed over to the Israeli Police's Northern District for further investigation and processing. The operation is part of a broader effort by Israeli security forces to combat drug smuggling along the eastern border, which has resulted in the seizure of around 700 kilograms of drugs in recent months.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident and processing the confiscated contraband according to standard procedures.
