IDF Forces Seize Over 50 Kg of Cocaine Near Jordan Valley Settlement

Israeli Defense Forces soldiers from the Lions of Jordan Battalion and scouts from the Beka'a and Valleys Brigade intercepted more than 50 kilograms of cocaine near the village of Rofin on August 13, 2026. The seized drugs, valued at several million shekels, were discovered during routine patrols along Israel's eastern border. The police's Northern District unit collected the shipment and are investigating those responsible for the smuggling attempt.

This operation is part of a series of successful drug interdictions in recent months, with over 200 kilograms of various narcotics seized along the eastern border. The IDF attributes the increased success to enhanced security measures, including the establishment of the 96th Division headquarters and expanded troop deployments in the area. The eastern border stretches over 320 kilometers and remains partially unfortified, prompting ongoing efforts to map smuggling routes and deploy observation, alert systems, and proactive military operations.

The IDF emphasized that these efforts aim to prevent smuggling and other threats along this vulnerable border region, underscoring the importance of continued vigilance and operational readiness.
