Israeli Police Arrest Three for Smuggling 50 Kg of Hashish to Jordan

Israeli authorities arrested three residents of Kfar Matzar for smuggling 50 kilograms of hashish into Jordan. The suspects, aged 26, 30, and 41, were caught after they threw ten packages of hashish over the eastern border fence to Jordanian contacts on July 15, 2026. The hashish, valued at millions of shekels, was intended for export, and each smuggler was to be paid approximately 100,000 shekels for the operation.

The indictment was filed by the Northern District Prosecutor's Office in Nazareth-Nof HaGalil, charging the suspects with offenses including harming state sovereignty, exporting dangerous drugs, and possession of drugs for sale. The investigation was a joint effort by the Northern District Central Unit and the Shin Bet security service.

This case is part of a broader Israeli security campaign to combat smuggling of drugs and weapons across the eastern border with Jordan, as well as borders with Syria and Lebanon. In recent months, several major smuggling networks have been dismantled, including a recent seizure of 70 kilograms of hashish and arrests of six suspects in the Negev linked to weapons and drug smuggling from Egypt and Jordan.

The Northern District Border Unit works closely with the IDF and Shin Bet to prevent illegal crossings using drones, vehicles, and direct package throws over the border fence. The Israeli police emphasized their ongoing commitment to disrupting smuggling operations, targeting criminal networks, and prosecuting all involved parties.
