Israeli Forces Seize 70 Kg of Hashish in Dramatic Border Operation Near Jordan

In a coordinated security operation along Israel's eastern border, three residents from southern Israel were arrested for attempting to smuggle approximately 70 kilograms of hashish into Jordan. The operation was carried out by the Border Unit of the Northern District Police in collaboration with IDF soldiers from the Beka'a and Valleys Brigade and Border Police fighters from the Judea and Samaria district. The suspects were identified near the fence close to the village of Rofin as they tried to export the drugs. Security forces quickly encircled and apprehended them with the large drug shipment.

The suspects were taken for further investigation at the Northern District's central unit. This interception adds to a series of successful operations in recent months targeting smuggling activities along the eastern border. The Border Unit of the Northern District works closely with the IDF to combat drug and weapons trafficking from Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. In recent months alone, about 182 kilograms of suspected drugs worth over 5 million shekels have been seized.

The elite Border Unit conducts regular ambushes and arrests of suspects involved in smuggling and trafficking. These efforts are part of a broader campaign by the Israeli police and security apparatus to address the significant threat posed by illegal weapons and drugs to public safety. Security officials note that these recent successful operations have dealt a severe blow to smuggling organizations in the region but emphasize that vigilance and ongoing efforts remain crucial to prevent the flow of illicit substances and arms into Israel.
