Israeli Security Forces Thwart Major Smuggling Attempts Along Southern Border in 2026

Since January 2026, Israeli security forces have intercepted significant smuggling operations along the southern border, including approximately 100 kilograms of cocaine and 700 kilograms of hashish. In addition to narcotics, over 230 drones used for smuggling attempts were seized. The forces also confiscated more than 109 weapons, comprising 74 long guns and 35 pistols, and arrested 40 suspects involved in smuggling weapons, drugs, and other contraband.

These figures highlight the ongoing and intense efforts by Israeli security personnel to combat smuggling activities along the border with Egypt and Jordan. Despite these successes, officials emphasize that the border remains porous, with smuggling attempts occurring almost daily.
