Israeli Forces Thwart Drone-Smuggling Attempts at Egypt Border
Israeli security forces recently intercepted two separate smuggling attempts near the western border in the Paran Brigade area. In the first incident, two suspects were arrested along with a large drone believed to have been used for smuggling weapons and drugs from Egypt into Israel. In a separate operation, a vehicle was seized containing a significant quantity of suspected drugs intended for smuggling.
Both suspects and the confiscated items were transferred to police for further investigation. These operations are part of ongoing efforts to combat the smuggling of weapons and narcotics across the Israel-Egypt border.
According to the IDF spokesperson, the interception was enabled by early detection from the air control system, which tracked the drone from the moment it crossed from Egyptian territory into Israel, allowing ground forces to prepare and prevent the smuggling. This incident follows similar recent cases where drones carrying automatic weapons were intercepted at the border.
The use of drones for smuggling along the Egypt and Jordan borders has been increasing, prompting heightened vigilance by Israeli security forces.
