Israel Foils Major Arms Smuggling Attempt at Jordanian Border

Israeli security forces thwarted a significant arms smuggling operation along the eastern border with Jordan. On the eve of the operation, IDF observation posts detected suspicious activity near the border, indicating preparations for arms transfer. In response, IDF units, the Judea and Samaria District Police, and Border Police (MAGAV) established ambushes.

During the operation, two Jericho residents, both around 50 years old, were apprehended. Authorities discovered 34 pistols and two M16 rifles in their possession. The suspects and the seized weapons were handed over to the Judea and Samaria District Police's central unit for further investigation.

Security forces highlighted that weapons of this nature are often supplied to both terrorist organizations and criminal groups. The operation was conducted as part of heightened security measures for the upcoming holiday period and ongoing efforts to combat arms smuggling across the Jordanian border.
