Israeli Forces Foil Major Arms Smuggling Attempt Near Jordan Border

Israeli security forces thwarted a significant arms smuggling operation near the Adam Bridge on the Jordan border overnight. The operation involved detectives from the Jordan Border Unit (YAGI) of the Southern District and soldiers from the IDF's Beka'a and Valleys Brigade. Suspicious activity was detected the previous evening, prompting police and military forces to launch extensive counter-smuggling measures, including ambushes, surveillance, and ground searches.

These efforts led to the arrest of two suspects in their twenties from Jericho. During an initial investigation at the scene, authorities discovered a bag hidden by the suspects containing 10 pistols smuggled across the Jordan border. The suspects and the seized weapons were transferred to the Southern District's Central Unit (YAMAR) for further interrogation.

Security officials emphasized their ongoing commitment to combating arms smuggling along Israel's eastern border to prevent weapons from reaching terrorist groups and criminals, thereby safeguarding Israeli civilians.
