Israeli Border Forces Thwart Suspected Smuggling Attempt in Jordan Valley
Israeli Border Police forces in the southern region prevented an infiltration attempt through the Mayim crossing in the Jordan Valley, detaining 21 illegal entrants. The Israeli Police declared a heightened alert in the eastern Jordan Valley border area on Monday evening due to fears of infiltration, likely linked to suspected smuggling of drugs or weapons.

Separately, four suspects were arrested on Sunday for allegedly attempting to smuggle approximately 20 kilograms of hashish from Israel into Jordan via the eastern border. The suspects were seen discarding 36 packages containing drugs on the Jordanian side. The arrests followed a joint operation involving the Northern District Border Unit, the Israel Police's Counter-Terrorism Unit, the Border Police in the West Bank, and the Jordan Lions Battalion. After discarding the packages, the suspects fled but were apprehended, and the drug packages were seized on the Jordanian side.
