Border Guards Foil Major Drug Smuggling Attempt to Jordan

Security forces thwarted an attempt to smuggle approximately 60 kilograms of drugs, valued at millions of shekels, from Israel into Jordan near the community of Ma'oz Haim. The operation began when Israeli observation posts identified suspicious activity near the border. IDF soldiers from the Jordan Lions Battalion (41), Border Police special forces from Judea and Samaria, and the Northern District's Border Unit were dispatched to the scene.

During a search of the area, the forces discovered several sacks containing the large quantity of narcotics. As the operation unfolded, a suspicious vehicle fled the scene. Soldiers from the Northern District's Border Unit pursued the vehicle and eventually apprehended two suspects, identified as Bedouin residents from southern Israel, aged 17 and 20, near the Megiddo Junction.

This bust follows a series of successful operations by security forces along Israel's eastern border, which have intercepted a cumulative total of about 700 kilograms of drugs in recent months. The suspects and the seized drugs have been handed over to the Northern District of the Israel Police for further investigation.
