Four Charged in Attempted Smuggling of 20 Kilos of Hashish to Jordan
Police announced on September 16, 2026, that an indictment has been filed against four individuals, including a minor, for allegedly attempting to smuggle approximately 20 kilograms of hashish into Jordan via the eastern border. The incident occurred on August 22, 2026, when forces, in cooperation with the Israeli military, observed suspects near the border fence. During the operation, 36 packages of hashish were thrown over the border into Jordan.
Police stated that the suspects were apprehended after fleeing the area, and the drugs were recovered on the Jordanian side. The four defendants, including two brothers from northern Israel, one of whom is a minor, along with two residents from southern Israel, were investigated by the Northern District's central unit before the indictment was filed at the Nazareth-Nof HaGalil Magistrate's Court.
This operation is part of a series of interdiction efforts along the eastern border, which have resulted in the seizure of about 700 kilograms of drugs in recent months, according to police.
