Four Indicted for Attempting to Smuggle Hashish to Jordan

Four individuals have been indicted for attempting to export approximately 20 kilograms of hashish to Jordan across the eastern border, an act deemed an infringement on the country's sovereignty. The incident occurred about a month ago when suspects were identified near the border fence during a joint operation involving the Northern District's Central Unit Border Division and IDF forces from Brigade 417 and the Border Police.

During the operation, 36 packages containing the hashish were thrown over the fence into Jordanian territory. Border unit officers apprehended the suspects after they fled the fence, and the drugs were recovered on the Jordanian side. The four arrested individuals include two brothers, one of whom is a minor, all residents of northern Israel, and two residents of southern Israel. They were subsequently investigated by the Northern District's Central Unit, and the Northern District Prosecutor's Office filed the indictment against them in the Nazareth-Nof HaGalil District Court.

This foiled smuggling attempt is part of a larger effort by security forces, who have intercepted around 700 kilograms of drugs along the eastern border in recent months. The police noted that the Border Division of the Northern District's Central Unit, in collaboration with IDF forces, is at the forefront of the persistent fight against the smuggling of weapons and drugs into and out of Israel from its borders with Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and the Palestinian Authority. This elite unit conducts ambushes and arrests suspects involved in smuggling and trading weapons and drugs as part of the Israel Police's comprehensive struggle against illegal weapons and drugs.
