Four Arrested in Attempted Drug Smuggling Across Jordan Border

Four suspects have been indicted after allegedly attempting to smuggle a large quantity of drugs from Israel to Jordan via the eastern border. The incident occurred on August 22, when law enforcement and military forces identified several individuals near the border fence. According to police, the suspects threw 36 packages, containing approximately 20 kilograms of hashish, over the fence into Jordanian territory.

Following the act, the suspects fled the area, but were apprehended by forces operating at the scene, who also recovered the drug packages. The four suspects include two brothers from northern Israel, one of whom is a minor, and two residents from southern Israel. They were transferred for investigation to the Northern District's Central Unit.

The Northern District Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against them in the Nazareth-Nof HaGalil District Court. Police stated this is another interception as part of increased activity along the eastern border. In recent months, security forces have seized approximately 700 kilograms of drugs in the region during various smuggling attempts.

The Border Unit of the Northern District, in cooperation with the IDF, actively works to thwart arms and drug smuggling along the borders with Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon, as well as in the West Bank, employing ambushes and operational activities to locate and arrest suspects.
