Four Indicted for Attempting to Smuggle 20kg of Hashish to Jordan
An indictment has been filed at the Nazareth-Nof HaGalil District Court against four suspects, including two brothers, one of whom is a minor, all residents of northern and southern Israel. They are accused of violating state sovereignty at the border following an attempt to export drugs to Jordan.
During the operation, which took place late last month, the suspects allegedly threw 36 packages containing approximately 20 kilograms of hashish into the Jordanian side of the border. Border unit soldiers apprehended the suspects after they fled from the fence and recovered the drug packages from the Jordanian side.
This foiled smuggling attempt is part of a larger effort by security forces, who have intercepted around 700 kilograms of drugs in the eastern border region in recent months. "Security forces are deployed in the eastern border area to maintain the security of the residents of the sector and the citizens of the State of Israel," the police stated.
