Police Officer Dragged by Car During Suspect's Escape Attempt
A video circulating online shows a police officer clinging to the door of a suspect's car as he attempts to flee, before she falls and rolls on the road. The officer sustained minor injuries and was taken for medical treatment.
The incident occurred on Monday evening during an operation by two officers from the Rishon Lezion police station. They identified a resident of Or Yehuda, in his 20s, who was wanted for questioning in connection with multiple property offenses, including theft and burglary.
According to the police, the officers approached the suspect and asked for his identification. At one point, he entered his vehicle and began to drive away. One officer attempted to prevent his escape by grabbing onto the car door. The suspect continued driving with the officer attached to the vehicle until she fell and was injured.
She was evacuated for medical treatment with her condition described as minor. Immediately following the incident, police launched a search for the suspect. He was located and arrested for questioning. The police are expected to request an extension of his detention from the Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
