Police Officer Injured During Suspect's Escape Attempt in Rishon LeZion
A police officer in the Central District sustained minor injuries last night in Rishon LeZion while attempting to apprehend a suspect. The suspect, a man in his 20s from Or Yehuda, was wanted for questioning in connection with theft and burglary allegations.
When officers approached the suspect and requested identification, he entered his vehicle and attempted to flee. A female officer grabbed onto the car door in an effort to prevent his escape. However, the suspect drove off with the officer clinging to the vehicle until she fell and was injured.
The injured officer was evacuated for medical treatment. Following a police manhunt, the suspect was located and arrested. Authorities plan to seek an extension of his detention today.
