Elite Israeli Counter-Terrorism Officer Dies in Haifa Beach Incident
The Israeli Police and Border Police officially confirmed the death of 23-year-old Staff Sergeant Itai Parson, a member of the elite counter-terrorism unit YAMAM. Parson went missing on Thursday afternoon after going to swim at Studenim Beach in Haifa. Contact with him was lost that evening.
A three-day search operation concluded when search teams discovered his body. Authorities will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Parson began his service in January 2023, initially aiming for pilot training. However, in August 2023, he transferred to mandatory service with the Border Police MAGAV. After completing rigorous training, he graduated from a special forces course and was assigned to the observation and unmanned aerial vehicle unit of the national counter-terrorism unit YAMAM. In December 2025, he extended his service by signing a contract with the elite unit.
He is survived by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and his girlfriend.
