Extensive Search Underway for Man Missing at Sea Off Haifa's Students Beach

Search operations have been ongoing since last night for a man who disappeared after entering the sea off Students Beach in Haifa on Tuesday evening. Multiple rescue and security agencies are involved in the intensive effort.

The ZAKA organization received a report Tuesday evening about a man who entered the water at Students Beach and did not emerge. ZAKA volunteer teams from various units were dispatched and joined the search alongside other official bodies.

Fire and rescue teams, including marine units, have been actively searching since early morning, employing rubber boats and specialized equipment for nighttime operations. The search is proceeding along multiple paths in an attempt to locate the missing individual.

Cooperation is extensive, with the maritime police and the Lavie unit also participating alongside ZAKA volunteers and fire and rescue crews. The search has utilized various means and technologies to comb the sea area.

Rabbi Anchel Friedman, ZAKA's Northern District commander, confirmed that volunteers have been on-site since last night, assisting in the search. Haim Otmazgin, commander of ZAKA's special units, stated that volunteers are working closely with the maritime police and Lavie unit, using available resources.

Police forces, led by the Carmel region commander, have also continued their search throughout the night. Police Commissioner Shabtai Zissi and Coastal District commander Yahiel Bohdana visited the scene to assess the situation and receive updates. The search involves police officers, volunteers, Border Police, the aerial unit, and various emergency and rescue services, as well as the Haifa municipality, employing a range of sea, air, and coastal search methods.
