Beitar Jerusalem Secures Alexis Serna Deal, Saving 45% on Transfer Fee
Beitar Jerusalem is nearing the completion of its squad for the upcoming season, with the club close to announcing its final signings before the transfer window closes. In parallel with a loan deal for Ori Azou from Maccabi Tel Aviv, owner Barak Abramov has finalized the transfer of midfielder Alexis Serna from Colombian club Independiente Medellín for €550,000. Serna, 28, has arrived in Israel and is set to undergo medical tests before his official announcement.
The transfer fee represents a significant saving for Beitar Jerusalem, with club CEO Kfir Edri successfully negotiating the price down from an initial demand of €1 million. This negotiation reportedly saved the club approximately €450,000, or about 45% of the original asking price. Serna, who stands at 1.70 meters tall, recorded 3 goals and 2 assists in 25 appearances for Medellín last season. He was under contract with the Colombian club until the end of 2027.
In other club news, Beitar Jerusalem is attempting to loan out players Yan Shikut and Ravid Avargil before the transfer window deadline.
