Beitar Jerusalem Nears Signing Colombian Midfielder Alexis Serna
Beitar Jerusalem is close to signing 28-year-old Colombian midfielder Alexis Serna from Independiente Medellín. The club has made an official loan offer with an option to buy, aiming to complete the deal before the transfer window closes. Beitar's sports director Almog Cohen expressed strong interest, stating Serna is exactly the player he sought. Serna has played exclusively in the Colombian league and joined Independiente Medellín in January 2025, with a contract running through the end of 2027. If signed, he would become Beitar's second Colombian player after Brian Carvallo.
Currently, Beitar has eight foreign players registered and must release one to add a new foreign signing. The club is negotiating with another candidate but expects Serna to be the new foreign player if terms are agreed. To register Serna, Beitar plans to release Elson Tavares, who refuses to comply with the Israeli Premier League and reportedly wishes to return to Portugal. The club is preparing to grant Tavares a release to finalize the new signing.
