Alexis Serna Joins Beitar Jerusalem FC on Three-Year Deal

Beitar Jerusalem FC has officially announced the signing of Colombian midfielder Alexis Serna, 28, on a three-year contract. Serna joins the Israeli Premier League club from Independiente Medellín for a reported transfer fee of 600,000 euros, with Beitar owner Yitzhak Abramov paying 550,000 euros for the acquisition. This marks Serna's first move outside of Colombia and his debut in European football.

Serna, who stands at 1.70 meters, is described as an intense midfielder capable of joining attacks from the second line. He scored three goals and provided two assists in his previous season. He becomes the second foreign player signed during head coach Almog Cohen's tenure and the first to arrive from outside the Israeli Premier League.

In a club statement, Beitar Jerusalem highlighted Serna's experience, strength, and midfield qualities, noting his arrival at a significant point in his career. The club expects him to play a central role and contribute to their future aspirations. Serna arrived in Israel on Friday morning and is set to join the team's roster.

Beitar Jerusalem is currently looking to improve its standing in the league. Following a 1-0 victory over Bnei Sakhnin, the team aims for a second consecutive win against Maccabi Petah Tikva on Tuesday. This comes after early-season losses to Maccabi Netanya and Hapoel Tel Aviv, which left the club near the bottom of the standings.
