Beitar Jerusalem Secures Alexis Serna Deal, Saving 45% on Transfer Fee

Beitar Jerusalem is nearing the completion of its squad for the upcoming season, with the club close to announcing its final signings before the transfer window closes.

Owner Barak Abramov has finalized the acquisition of midfielder Alexis Serna from Colombian club Independiente Medellín, paying €550,000 for the player. Serna, 28, is expected to arrive in Israel early this week for medical tests before officially signing. This deal represents a significant saving for Beitar, as the initial demand from Medellín was €1 million. Club CEO Kfir Edri successfully negotiated the price down, saving approximately €450,000, or 45% of the original asking price.

Serna, who stands at 1.70 meters tall, recorded 3 goals and 2 assists in 25 appearances for Medellín last season. He was under contract with the Colombian club until the end of 2027.

In parallel, Beitar Jerusalem is attempting to loan out players Yan Shiqut and Ravid Avargil before the transfer deadline. Avargil, however, is reportedly reluctant to leave the club at this time, seeking to make a decision without pressure after what are described as two poor years.

The club, managed by Almog Cohen, is looking to strengthen its roster and is on track to finalize its squad, at least until the January transfer window.
