Colombian Midfielder Alexis Serna Arrives in Israel to Sign with Beitar Jerusalem
Colombian midfielder Alexis Serna, 28, arrived in Israel on Friday morning to finalize his transfer to Beitar Jerusalem. He is set to undergo medical tests and sign a two-year contract with an option for an additional season. Beitar Jerusalem acquired Serna from Independiente Medellín for $500,000 plus bonuses, making him the team's eighth foreign player and completing their roster.
Serna has not played since June due to an injury but has been training fully for the past month. The professional staff hopes he can debut next Saturday against Hapoel Haifa, pending his acclimatization and assessment.
Meanwhile, the participation of right-back Nana Antwi in Tuesday's match against Maccabi Petah Tikva will be determined by Saturday evening or Sunday. Antwi expressed optimism about being included in the squad. Jordan Cohen, recovering from meniscus surgery, is not expected back until after the international break.
