Beitar Jerusalem Secures Alexis Serana Deal, Saving 45% on Transfer Fee

Beitar Jerusalem is nearing the completion of its squad for the upcoming season, with the club close to announcing its final signings before the transfer window closes. The team, led by Almog Cohen, has successfully negotiated the acquisition of midfielder Alexis Serana from Colombian club Independiente Medellín.

Owner Barak Abramov paid €550,000 for Serana, a significant reduction from the initial asking price. The club's CEO, Kfir Edri, is credited with saving Beitar approximately €450,000, as Medellín's original demand was €1 million. This negotiation represents a 45% saving for the Israeli club.

Serana, a 28-year-old midfielder standing at 1.70 meters, is expected to arrive in Israel early this week for medical tests before officially signing. Last season, he made 25 appearances for Medellín, scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists. He was under contract with the Colombian club until the end of 2027.

In parallel, Beitar Jerusalem is also working on loaning out players Yan Shikut and Ravid Avargil. Avargil, however, is reportedly reluctant to leave the club at this time, seeking to make a decision without pressure after what are described as two poor years.

The club is aiming to finalize its roster, at least until the January transfer window, with these moves.
