UK Imposes Sanctions on Israeli Settlements, Citing Two-State Solution

Britain has officially announced sanctions targeting Israeli settlements in the West Bank, which it deems illegal and detrimental to the two-state solution. British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband stated that the government's policy is guided by the full realization of a two-state solution, emphasizing that the dispute is with the Israeli government's actions, not the Israeli people.

Miliband specifically cited settlement plans in the E1 area as creating a reality that would make a two-state solution impossible. As part of the new approach to address what he called "injustice," Britain will ban the import of products originating from Israeli settlements.

These sanctions follow previous measures taken by the UK against Hezbollah and Iran. Miliband reiterated that Israeli settlements are illegal and should not be promoted.
