Israir Sells $8 Million in New York Flights Within Hours

Israir announced that it generated approximately $8 million in bookings for its new flights to New York within hours of sales opening. The booking period initially covered flights until the end of September, then extended to November, and now includes flights until March 2027. The initial round-trip tickets for flights between September 16 and 23 were priced around $2,300, increasing to about $2,500 by Tuesday. Delta Air Lines, which recently resumed its own flights to New York from Israel after opening sales months earlier, is selling its remaining tickets at higher prices, with some listed at $2,336.

However, Israir is offering more accessible prices for flights after the Jewish holidays. For instance, a round-trip ticket for mid-October was priced at $1,450 on Israir, compared to $2,117 on Delta. The launch of the New York route positions Israir to compete in a market already served by Israeli and international airlines. This move is part of Israir's expansion into long-haul flights, following the necessary approvals to operate services to the United States.

While the initial booking volume suggests demand for the route, it is too early to predict occupancy rates, profitability, or the route's long-term performance.
